Statkraft has signed new power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Deutsche Bahn, providing hydropower and wind power.
Starting from 2027 until the end of 2034, Statkraft will directly supply green electricity from hydropower to Deutsche Bahn from its Langwedel and Landesbergen run-of-river power plants in Lower Saxony, Germany. Over the eight-year contract, Statkraft will deliver more than 350,000 MWh of green electricity. Additionally, wind power will be sourced from Alterric's wind turbine portfolio under PPAs. These agreements cover around 147,000 MWh for the years 2024 to 2026, supporting the economic operation of the wind turbines located in Lower Saxony, Hesse, and Brandenburg.

Statkraft has a history of collaborating with Deutsche Bahn, including supplying 1.9TWh of green electricity from hydropower under a ten-year cross-border PPA since last year. In 2021, the company had supplied one year of onshore wind power from 70 wind turbines that had run out of subsidies to Deutsche Bahn.
